Signals Home Entertainment, owned by Igshaan Safodien, has been trading as a video rental store for more than 20 years at the address 652 Lansdowne Road, Lansdowne in Cape Town, South Africa. In the eighties, the business was called Video Shack and in 1997, Igshaan Safodien, joined Mr Video, the largest franchise video group in South Africa, and changed the trading name to Mr Video Lansdowne.
 
Signals Home Entertainment, is also an established importer of high-end hi-fi and home theatre products for almost 15 years. We only distribute our products to specialized audio retailers and reputable custom installers. Signals is currently the exclusive distributor for brands such as Naim Audio, Xavian, MK Sound, JVC 3D projectors, Panamorph, OS screens and NaimNet. From 1999 to 2005, Igshaan Safodien, built up a reputation as a leading audio consultant at his retail store, Signals Audio Video in Canal Walk. He completed extensive training in 2000 at George Lucas’s film studio, “Skywalker Ranch,” in San Rafael, California, U.S.A. At THX offices and Skywalker Ranch, home theatre professionals all over the world, study how films are created in post-production film studios, the effects of room acoustics and how to match the right combination of home theatre products to produce the best results. Taking pride in being South Africa’s first THX-Certified audio dealer, Igshaan was able to serve customers, architects, project managers, interior designers and building professionals as a technical/acoustical consultant in the design and construction of high-end home theatre rooms.  
At the end of 2005, Signals moved their audio retail store to Willowbridge shopping mall in Tygervalley. In 2007, Signals closed their store in Willowbridge, due to changes in the industry and it was decided to operate both DVD movie rentals and audio visual sales under one operation, named Signals Home Entertainment, in Lansdowne.
In addition to our online DVD/Blu-ray rental service, we also sell HiFi and Home Theatre products online, for the convenience of those who live too far from us in Cape Town, or those who wish to shop from home. Our online store, Signals Audio Visual, ie www.signals.co.za, sells hundreds of items and offer “Package Deal systems” in various price categories, to make it easier for customers to end up with a good sounding, properly, well-balanced system that performs at optimal level. Please note we no longer maintain a walk-in retail store with products on demo or display, so if you want to arrange a pick-up in person, you'll need to order ahead and let us know when you'll be coming. In September 2011, Signals Home Entertainment was one of 30 finalists in Cape Talk 567 Small Business Awards Competition, from hundreds of Cape Town businesses nominated by customers for Service Excellence, on radio.
Signals is now focused on establishing itself as a leading online retailer in South Africa.
